Wouldn’t it be amazing to have editable sight word games that could last you all year long? Your wish has been granted! One of my newest resources allows you to create your own sight word flash cards to pair along with some center activities.
I remember struggling to find resources that matched my sight word list exactly. Every school seems to use a different list! I wanted to provide something for teachers that they could truly use to fit their student’s needs.
Having an editable resource not only means that you can type in your own sight words, but you could use these games for other skills. Think of the possibilities…math facts, vocabulary words, letters, numbers, etc. All you have to do is simply open up the file and start typing your content in the blue boxes.
I loved having monthly themed center activities for my students. You can use these 12 editable sight word games ALL year long! Many of the themes follow the U.S. holidays. However, some are seasonal, so you could use those games for a few months at a time.
To make this resource more versatile, there are 4 ways to play! That means you could create 4 different centers using the same sight word flashcards, or do a different skill for each game. Each monthly theme will come with the editable flashcards, “special play” cards, and a board game.
Let kids work around the board game as they read sight words, but watch out for those tricky spaces that make you go forward or backward! You can use teddy bear counters, mini erasers, linking cubes, etc as game pieces. Add these giant dice to your game for added fun!
Lastly, another simple game to use with the flashcards is Go Fish. It’s a fun twist on the classic game that kids love.
With so many themes and the option to edit the content, you’ll be able to create all kinds of monthly center activities. You can find my editable sight word games in my shop. Also, check out my post 10 Sight Word Games and Activities for more ideas.
