Generally speaking, teachers tend to spend the largest amount of money at the beginning of each school year when prepping their classrooms for the upcoming educational magic of the new year. Here you will discover new hidden treasures discovered at the Dollar Tree for the 2021-2022 school year.

Affordable Storage Containers and Uses
Squeal! Let’s be honest, one of the educators’ biggest dilemmas is storage. We have such a variety of materials for our vast variety of learners, that we tend to accumulate a lot of ‘educational materials’. Here are just a few of the many storage options they offer. Again, these are just a few and how I make use of some of them.
These small caddies are great for storing materials for small groups or aiding in keeping student desks tidy!
These small boxes can be used to store all those tiny odds and ends like googly eyes, glitter, button, beads, paperclips, push pins, the list is endless.
One of my favorite ways to use these is for dice! How often do students waste precious time chasing rolled dice around the room? First, place the die/dice in these containers. Next, students shake the container (I have a rule of two shakes) flip it over and viola, no chasing loose dice!

Snap and Lock Soap/Snack Containers
These storage containers are great for storing counters or other small pieces for centers or small group activities!
Also, they are the perfect size for storing an entire deck of cards and a 24 pack of crayons.
These containers hold an entire 24 pack of crayons just perfectly!
Small File Folder – Word Card Storage
These mini file folders have tabs for labeling each section. I plan to use this latest discovery this year to store my sight words, spelling words, and vocabulary word cards that go along with my new reading series our county adopted this year!

Magnetic Small Storage Containers
Next, these small containers are magnetic, and since they have a clear lid so you know what is stored in them without the need of labeling them. They come in a variety of colors and sizes. They are great for storing small items like tacks, paper clips, sticky clips, and rubber bands. If your desks are metal they are a great way for students to store their earbuds at their desks.

Save money on Rewards/Awards at the Dollar Tree

Kids love stickers! The Dollar Tree has some unique stickers for just a dollar! Googly Eye Stickers, 3D Stickers, and my students’ favorite, Scratch Off Stickers!

Arts and Crafts on a Teacher’s Budget

Centers
Realistically, creating hands-on centers can often require the collection and purchase of a variety of items which can quickly add up to a substantial amount of spending. This is where teachers can save money by purchasing these odds and ends at Dollar Tree stores. They have small toys and other small items for jazzing up center activities too! I love these ever-popular little characters they can choose from when playing games in centers.

These large dice are great for sight word and spelling word practice in centers. I stick old labels on them, that way I can reuse them just by peeling off the label or sticking a new one on top of the old. Also, I have students read and then write the word during this activity.
Affordable Organization
These colorful trays are perfect for keeping the paper clutter under control in the classroom.

These containers are great for storing small group ‘guided reading’ activities with the teacher.

These small open containers are great for keeping desk drawers organized.
