Do you want to incorporate some movement and team building into your literacy lessons? Fluency Find It, does just that! These activities will help your students work on sight words from the Fry’s 4th 100 Sight Word list, while giving them a chance to get out of their seats and move a little bit.
▶︎Have students get in small groups and stand behind their table with their worksheet in front of them. Students will say what the sight word they see on the screen, then hunt for the answer on their paper. After a couple of turns, a screen will pop up prompting students to switch players. The student finding the answers, will go to the end of the line. Students can play in groups or partners to help each other hunt for the answer on the paper to match what they see on the screen. There are 2 worksheets you can use to differentiate learning if needed, as well as use the timed slides or manual slides depending on how fluent your students are in that skill. Check out a video of Fluency Find It in action:
(30 games) 10 sets with 3 slideshows for each game (6 or 10 second timed slides & manual)
—>The sight word list has been broken down into smaller sets and in order of frequency. Each set works on 20 words at a time (see preview images to see how the sets are broken down). Since sight words are something you’ll review all year, I have created 2 versions of each set of words. This way you have 2 games to play for each set of sight words.
•set 1 (words 1-20)
•set 2 (words 21-40)
•set 3 (words 41-60)
•set 4 (words 61-80)
•set 5 (words 81-100)
• 2 worksheets (color the sight word or write the word in the box)
PLEASE NOTE—>This will open in Microsoft PowerPoint. To keep the clipart secure, but maintain animations, I had to create a password on the files. On a Mac computer, you may have to click “READ ONLY” and it will open. PC’s shouldn’t have any issues opening the files like normal. The sound may not work on PowerPoint versions prior to 2011, so you may want to update your software. Unfortunately Google Slides does not maintain animations, music, timers, etc. so it will not work with that.
*I get asked quite often to make this editable so you can add in your own words. This type of activity is unable to be made editable and still secure/maintain the animations, music, and timers.
